Reclaim a Sense of Calm, Find Relief, and Build the Skills to Move Forward and Handle Life with Greater Confidence and Control
Whether you’re looking for help with anxiety, stress, trauma, panic, depression, a relationship issue, or some sort of life transition …
If you’re like a lot of the clients I work with, it’s not that you don’t understand what’s happening.
It’s that your mind won’t stop.
You overthink conversations. You replay what you said. You second-guess your decisions. You imagine worst-case scenarios. You feel your body tense up, your chest tighten, your thoughts race – even when life seems “fine,” some part of you knows it’s not and stays on high alert waiting for the next shoe to drop.
Or your depression makes everything feel heavier than it should. Motivation disappears. Hope feels distant. The smallest tasks feel exhausting.
And if you’re suffering from some form of trauma or PTSD, moving forward can feel impossible. No matter what you try, the triggers, intrusive memories, intense emotions, or that constant sense of unease never seem to let go.
Whatever you’re carrying, it can be incredibly frustrating to find yourself stuck in the same mental, emotional, and relational loops and patterns … even when you know they aren’t helping.
I get it.
You don’t have to keep struggling alone. In fact, you don’t have to keep struggling at all.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you reclaim a sense of calm and control by shining a light on the thoughts, assumptions, and habits that keep pulling you into distress – and then helping you replace them with healthier, more constructive ways of thinking and responding.
If you’re ready for therapy that’s practical, structured, and focused on real progress …
If you’re ready to learn the tools and skills you need to experience relief and move forward in life with a greater sense of confidence and control, reach out today, schedule a free 15-minute initial phone consultation, and learn more about how CBT therapy can help you.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a proven, effective approach to overcoming anxiety, PTSD, panic, phobias, depression, and negative thought and behavior patterns.
It’s a more traditional talk therapy approach – but with a very practical focus.
It’s also one of the most evidence-based approaches to therapy, with decades of research supporting its effectiveness.
With CBT, we’re not just going to talk about what’s happened to you and your experiences.
We’re going to focus on real solutions that help you identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors and replace them with healthier, more constructive ones.
I’ve also found it to be especially helpful for people who aren’t used to “thinking about their thinking.”
Instead of only focusing on your experiences, we’ll look at what’s going through your mind when those experiences happen:
- Are you making assumptions about yourself?
- Are there beliefs you carry about relationships, safety, or control?
- Is it something about your worldview?
- What meanings are you automatically assigning to what’s happening?
CBT can help you shine a light on the attitudes and assumptions you’re operating with – and understand when and why they show up.
This is what makes it so powerful, and why so many of my clients appreciate the CBT work we do together.
Because that awareness is a prerequisite for change.
How Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Works
CBT can help you change the way you feel by allowing you to change the way you think about and respond to situations and events – especially in the moments that matter most.
In our CBT work together, you’ll learn to:
- Identify the unconscious thought patterns and self-defeating beliefs that contribute to stress, anxiety, shame, or hopelessness.
- Incorporate practical tools into your daily life to manage emotions, reduce stress, and break free from unhelpful habits.
- Create lasting change by “rewiring” the patterns that keep pulling you back into distress – so you can respond differently over time.
None of this is about trying to just “think positively.”
We look for evidence.
We slow things down and get curious about what your mind is doing in real time – then we test alternative perspectives and find the evidence to support these new beliefs and ways of thinking about and interacting with the world around you that lead to the results you desire.
This is where people start to feel something shift: fewer spirals, less reactivity, more groundedness, and greater choice.

What to Expect in CBT Therapy Sessions
I often spend at least the first two or three sessions with clients using CBT.
I do this for two reasons:
- It gives us both a chance to start working together and build trust.
- It helps ensure you have some practical tools you can use right away to better handle whatever issues you’re facing.
Together we’ll use grounding techniques, visualization, belief restructuring, and cognitive-behavioral tools that can help you build real, lasting change.
Depending on what you’re dealing with, our CBT work may include:
- Tracking triggers and patterns (without judgment)
- Identifying the “core beliefs” underneath recurring distress
- Learning grounding and nervous-system calming skills
- Practicing new ways to respond to anxiety, panic, or depression
- Building healthier habits that support your relationships and life goals
My focus is on tracking our results and making tangible progress towards your goals from session to session – so we both have a roadmap in front of us and you feel clearer, stronger, and more confident as quickly as possible.
This being said, while CBT is structured – it’s not rigid.
We’ll tailor the work to your needs and always move at a pace that feels right for you.
Am I the Best CBT Therapist for You?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a profoundly powerful healing technique that can often produce meaningful results in less time than other traditional talk therapy techniques.
CBT is:
- Backed by decades of scientific research
- Effective for a wide variety of mental, emotional, behavioral, and relationship health issues (including anxiety and stress, trauma and PTSD, depression, panic attacks, and phobias)
- Focused on real, measurable progress – often with noticeable shifts happening sooner than in less structured approaches (though everyone’s timeline is different)
This all being said, the single most important ingredient in psychotherapy is the healing relationship you create with your therapist.
We’re all unique human beings, and we all take different paths towards healing and growth.
This is why no one clinician can possibly be the best CBT therapist for every client.
So how do you know whether I’m the right behavioral and mental health therapist for you?
The only way to really find out is to contact me today, schedule an initial consultation, ask any questions you have, and see if we feel like a good fit for working together.
What I can say is that I take a structured and directed approach to counseling and therapy, while still keeping our work together warm, collaborative, and human.
This means:
- We’ll clarify your goals early so therapy feels purposeful
- I often use assessments and provide homework to support your progress between sessions
- I work hard to connect each session to the next, so we both can track your results over time
- I’ll be honest and direct in a supportive way – and if something isn’t working we’ll adjust accordingly
I also don’t believe in one-size-fits-all, “cookie-cutter” therapy.
This is why I often blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and more traditional talk therapy with EMDR therapy – and at times, a bit of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – so we can use whatever approach best fits your needs in a given moment.
I’ll ask questions and share observations, and I’ll also encourage you to ask questions, too. The goals we work toward are always up to you.
Ultimately, you’re the one in the driver’s seat. You’re always in control.
If you’re ready to:
- Feel more in control when anxiety or panic shows up
- Shift harsh self-criticism into something more balanced and compassionate
- Improve your ability to manage and cope with stress and life transitions
- Reduce overthinking and mental spirals
- Increase your confidence in relationships and decision-making
- Build skills you’ll be able to use for the rest of your life
